Booking a flight to Hurghada at the right time can save you 30–50% on airfare. After two decades of watching Red Sea travel patterns from the supply side — and crunching live price data from the Aviasales / Travelpayouts feed every morning for the past year — we've put together a 2026 update on exactly when to book, when to fly, and which departure months reliably deliver the cheapest tickets from Europe's biggest source markets.
This guide is updated regularly with fresh data from our trip planner, which pulls live prices from 10+ European origins every day. The figures below are based on a snapshot from the first week of August 2026 and the airline-pair frequencies we see on the Hurghada run.
The short answer
- Cheapest months to fly: Late September through mid-November, then again in early March. Shoulder season — hot enough for the sea, no European school holidays, no Christmas peak.
- Cheapest months to book: 6–9 weeks before departure for the best balance of availability and price. Booking 3+ months out is usually more expensive on this route, not less — contrary to the common rule.
- Most expensive months: Mid-December to early January, the two weeks around Easter, and the last week of July / first week of August (German and Russian school holidays).
- Cheapest source cities right now: Istanbul (one-way from $96), Berlin ($182), London ($198), Paris ($210). See live prices on the home page flight table or the full trip planner.
Why Hurghada pricing is unusual
Most long-haul European routes reward booking 3+ months ahead. Hurghada is different for three reasons:
- Charter + scheduled mix. A large share of Hurghada's inbound capacity runs on TUI, Corendon, Pegasus, Azur Air, and AlMasria Universal Airlines. Charter inventory is priced to fill planes, so the lowest fares are released 4–8 weeks before departure when load factors are still uncertain.
- Two demand peaks only. Unlike Mediterranean beach routes (which have 4–5 distinct peaks), Hurghada has two — Christmas/New Year and Easter. The rest of the year is largely flat, so airlines drop prices aggressively to keep planes full.
- Egyptian pound dynamics. Because the EGP has devalued twice since 2022, scheduled airline cost bases have shifted in ways that don't always show up in the published fare structure. Carriers sometimes re-cut prices mid-month instead of waiting for a season change.
Month-by-month breakdown for 2026–2027
September – November (the sweet spot)
Sea temperature is still 27–28°C, the European summer crowds have gone, and the air is dry and warm (28–32°C daytime). This window is reliably the cheapest of the year for European departure cities. In the last year, average one-way prices from Berlin to Hurghada in this window were 30–40% below the July peak. Book 5–7 weeks ahead.
December – early January (Christmas peak)
From about 18 December to 4 January, expect prices to spike 60–120% above the October baseline. If you can shift your trip by even one week in either direction, you'll save substantially. Book by mid-October for the best Christmas-week selection. Many properties in Hurghada also enforce a 5–7 night minimum over the holiday, so check the booking terms early.
February (winter sun, underrated)
February is the most underrated month for Hurghada. Daytime highs around 22–24°C, water 21–22°C (still swimmable on warmer days, especially on the protected south coast), and the lowest flight prices of any winter month. Ideal for digital nomads and remote workers planning a 3–6 week stay. See our digital nomad guide for long-stay tips.
March – April (Easter spike, then shoulder)
Late March through mid-April is the second peak. The week before and after Easter is consistently 40–60% more expensive than the week before it. Spring weather is excellent for desert excursions and boat trips. Book by mid-January for Easter-week flights.
May (the wildcard)
May is a great month for weather (28–34°C, no humidity, calm seas) but prices are unpredictable. Some years May is the cheapest shoulder month of the year, others it spikes because of regional events. Set a price alert and check weekly.
June – August (European summer)
Reliable mid-to-high pricing. The last week of July and first week of August (German and Russian school holidays) are the most expensive non-Christmas weeks. Weather is 35–40°C daytime — manageable with a pool but rough for desert excursions. Book by April for July/August travel.
Which day of the week is cheapest?
For European departures to Hurghada, Tuesday and Wednesday departures are consistently 8–15% cheaper than Friday and Sunday. Saturday is the most expensive. The difference is largest on the scheduled carriers (Pegasus, EgyptAir, Turkish Airlines) and smaller on the charter operators (TUI, Corendon, Azur Air).
Direct vs one-stop
From Berlin, London, Paris, Rome, and Istanbul, direct flights are almost always cheaper than one-stop alternatives. From smaller European cities, one-stop itineraries via Istanbul, Cairo, or Vienna are usually the only option, and they're often $30–80 cheaper than the corresponding connecting flight via a European hub. Always check both.
